Wounded Vessel in Oak No. 2278

Turned wet, hollowed and burnished over 2 afternoons, I was very pleased with the form. But as happens with green oak, it moves. The form changed, the surface became distorted and the two vertical bark inclusions threatened to tear the piece apart from top and bottom. Once the moisture stabilized, I was left with a new form. One moved by its nature, finding its own shape. After a few weeks of drying and wondering if the form would survive it was finally stable and intact.
